"Na wa oo, NK baby. Who would have thought? I mean see as you were just dishing rhema anyhow at the sleepover," Stephanie giggled as she handed over some dishes to me while I patted them dry and hung them in the dish rack. "I must confess I was blessed." She rested on the kitchen counter, her eyes intent on me
"What?" My eyes danced.
"It's beautiful to see you like this, right from when you opened your eyes in the hospital, something was different about you. There was this light in your eyes. When you started talking about Jay at first, I initially dismissed it as collateral damage you know, maybe as a result of the fall and all - that you'd get over it soon. But you have changed NK. Without a shadow of doubt you have met him. I feel embarrassed 'cos I didn't recognize it or my unbelief chose not to. Now I know, God can't be boxed and that my experiences are inconsequential when it comes to seeing him at work in my life and in the life of others. He gets the glory and that's that." Her eyes pooled.
"Awwww, come here baby girl" I beckoned, my arms wide open. She obliged, and we stayed there for a moment before continuing with the dishes.
"When, what of K-wonder na?" I winked,
"k-who?"Steph pausing looking like five year old lost in the woods.
I rolled my eyes and gave her a knowing look.
"You this babe," she gave a small laugh. "You mean Kamsi, he's fine by the grace of God ooo."
"Ahn ahn, what do you mean? Give me the gist jarey." I gave her a slight nudge.
"Well, he proposed over dinner last weekend and I...." Steph'd barely finished I'd already broke in,hooting and hollering.
"Aayyyiii, my baby girl is getting married." I danced round the dinning table
"Carry your small waist one side jorr" Steph giggled.
"Oya come, tell me all.about it." I drew her to one of the chairs.
"It was amazing more than I could have hoped for" Steph's eyes became dreamy.
"And?"
"I told him I would pray about it NK, and I already know what it is.".
"Uhhhnn huhnn?" I was almost breathless from anticipation and excitement
"It's a yes a million times over, I love that man of God to bits! I know it with every fibre of my being like I knew I got saved, this is it."
"Awwww, I'm so happy for you dear. Congratulations!"
"I plan to give him my answer this Friday in the grandest of styles. It would be a surprise, my treat in that Chinese restaurant he has raved about so much. I would need your help oo, my dear saxophonist to serenade the atmosphere with love."
"At your service Ma" I gave a mock salute before sinking in a little.
"Hey,what's wrong?" Stephanie inquired sensing my mood swings
"It's nothing, just fleeting thoughts of Anna you know and her dad. Sometimes I wish I could.go back and undo my wrongs."
"Oh dearie, remember there is therefore now no condemnation to them who are in Christ Jesus who walk not after the flesh but after the spirit. Who dares lay a charge against you, God's very own elect? For who the son hath made free is free indeed. You are a child.of God. And I know with every thing in me that in His will, he will make all things beautiful. He will restore and give you much more than you've lost." She gave my hands a tight squeeze.
"Thank you so much Steph. You know what I am at that place where I am okay. I have fully understood that I am complete in Christ because I once wrongly thought I needed to be loved and validated by a guy to feel confident in myself. But when I met Jay, I met love personified. I am fully satisfied in what I've got going with him."
"That's beautiful dear. You know, if I didn't know better I would have said this Jay was some figment of your imagination oo based on how much of a drama Queen B you are. Who knows the Bobo God might be arranging for you might be a James, or a John, and you would have another Jay in your life." Steph chuckled mischievously.
"Ahn, no oo. Infact that might have to be the deal.breaker for me, once you name starts with "J" even if it's Junior; I don move. Ain't nobody competing with Jay- the love of my life."
"Be calming down. Don't worry if Brother James comes and He is God's will, babes your mind go dey!"
My phone chimed in an alarm. It was 4pm.
"Okay, it's Jay time!it's time to gist with my love, go and brush your teeth your mouth dey smell onions, now I know who ate the Lion's share of our pizza last night." I shooed her towards the bathroom.
"Hey God, na wa! We both know you are going to blast tongues till God knows when. Lemme follow you to the mountain now I want to carry small fire for next week against that boss of mine."
"My friend will you go and build ya own altar." I pinched her
"God when?!" She shrieked.
"Don't worry we will pray together tonight but this one is something me and Jay have. A promise we both made before I came around."
"Hmmm. What promise is that?"
"That the conversation will always continue no matter what"
