The word as we have seen is the light. It gives, not only direction; it is the direction—the very compass of our activities.
When we put the written word of God first, by giving it preeminence over our lives as we read and study it, we come in contact with the light that it is.
The world which we live in is filled with darkness from within and outside the heart of men—wickedness.
“And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.”
1 John 5:19 KJV
When we receive the written word of God and place a premium on it, we see who we are from who we are not. What to do and what not to do. What battles to engage in and where to fight them.
By the light, which is the word, we have the compass to navigate through the world we find ourselves now. If you agree the word is capable of doing all these, then, daily as you live, read and study the word. Give it first place in your life.
Also, our world is constantly changing, what was acceptable yesterday is no longer acceptable today. Trends rise out of nowhere and fall into total oblivion the next minute. The social media is pleated with diverse challenges that keeps individuals, especially the youths glued to it.
If your life is determined by this ever-changing and fleeting events, it will amount to nothing.
What if I told you you don’t have to be tossed to and fro by trends, but you can live a stable life?
The word of God is not a trend, it doesn’t become something else today that it was not 2000 years ago because the economy is hard. It is the same yesterday, today and forever.(Hebrew 13:8).
It provides a highly needed stability in an ever-changing world. Furthermore, it is a sure anchor in the sea of trends that last but for a moment. You can place your life on it and be secured forever.
This year, decide to live by the written word of God. Let it control and guide your every action. Make a resolve to read and study at least a chapter daily.
Your life will transform for the best as you do so, navigating 2021.
