And I don’t mean the words that you get from another person, by way of prophesies, dreams, visions or experience. Are they wrong or out of place? No, they're not. But that’s not our focus for today.
Today and always, we'll place premium on the written word of God—seen from Genesis–Revelation, contained in the Bible.
One of the drawbacks for a fruitful year, is because people don’t prioritize the written word of God. They relegate it to the background and desire a seer to speak to them, or see something about the year for them. Many times, they believe the written word is for pastors only.
Many times, people think erroneously that the word of God is only good for Sunday 'feel-goods'. So, after the share the grace in church, they forget about the word.
Many have not been taught to give the written word the premium attention it deserves—this must be taught.
In doing this, they deny the power of God to save and preserve, found in the written word.
The word of God was in the beginning, showing its place in the scheme of things—first!
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
—John 1:1 KJV
The written word must have the first place in our lives. No words of prophesy, visions, dreams or experiences should take its place.
This is how the Psalmist puts it, referring to the word.
“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”
—Psalms 119:105 KJV
The word is the light. It does not only give direction, it is the direction—the very compass of our lives.
We continue on this path, next week.
