Compliments of the season, beloved!
Throughout this month, we have focused on three very popular attributes of God: his omnipotence, omniscience and his omnipresence. Today, this post is to be an assurance to you reading this. My prayer for you is that when you come to the end of this post, your heart will ring with a truth so sure: that God not only has all these traits, but is more than willing to help you with them and more.
You see, there are so many people who do no doubt the power, wisdom or presence of God, but do doubt his willingness to help them. Sometimes, we might subconsciously feel like God is too busy to help, or that he's tired of us and our constant fumbles. But when we think thoughts like these, we are unwittily looking at God through the lenses of our own characters and weaknesses.
The bible tells us in Hebrews 4 that we have a high priest who is touched by the feelings of our infirmities, because he was once in our shoes. And though he never sinned, he understands. And not only does he understand, he invites us to come find grace to help whenever we need it—whenever! This is not the heart of an unwilling God,—not at all!—but rather the eagerness of a doting and compassionate Father and King, eager to offer help to those who love and trust in him (and even those who do not, if they'd only realise it).
"God is our Refuge and Strength [mighty and impenetrable to temptation], a very present and well-proved help in trouble."
—Psalm 46:1 (The Amplified Version; emphasis, mine)
I really do love this particular verse in scripture, because it merges together three very beautiful traits:
God's omnipresence,
God's omnipotence,
God's willingness.
So, the psalmist realised that God was not only strong and always very present, but that he offered help lavishly as well.
Dear believer, have the days made you feel more lost than usual? Do you sometimes feel like God is watching but he's not willing to help you? Then, I've come to tell you otherwise today.
Our Father is not just powerful and mighty in every way, but his compassion is limitless in force as well—and it flows out as a willingness to walk with and help you, every step of the way.
Mark 1:40-41 (KJV)
[40]And there came a leper to him, beseeching him, and kneeling down to him, and saying unto him, If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.
[41]And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean.
Sometime in the past, a man who was once a leper, finally came to understand this—that the Lord's compassion, intermingled with his willingness to help and save, is like a free-flowing stream that never flows backwards. I pray you will today as well.
