If you ask ten different people how 2020 was for them, you would get ten distinct answers—answers that would cut across their personal lives, expectations, and the weight of that year on the world.
In all their answers though, you would be sure to find one common thread:
“2020, was a year that tested our convictions on the things we believe”.
Those who had believed in health, love, planning out the year or in humanity, saw loved ones fall gravely ill, hatred instigated by many out of selfishness and fear, plans crash due to the way the year churned out events and finally, experienced how humanity was threatened by the pandemic.
Coming from such a backdrop, it would be common to see fear, worry and uncertainty take its place among individuals in this new year, 2021.
Today however, I want you to understand this, and brace up: there is no year devoid of trouble, pain, and crises of different shades. Will this year be free of them? No!
“Then said he unto the disciples, It is impossible but that offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come!”
Luke 17:1 KJV
The above scripture, clearly shows us that stumbling blocks, obstacles, offenses; things that cause sin, will always come. We saw them last year, and we will see them this year. This is not a curse or a false prophecy, but the principles that play out in the earth's system.
A clear note: Jesus did not exclude believers from those to whom these crises would come. Crises are common to believers and unbelievers, thieves and saints, white and black.
We have seen that the troubles of last year were not foreign, and this year is not immune to it. With this in mind, what do we do, and how do we navigate the year?
Keep tabs with us as we share in the coming days, "navigating the year".
For now, look at 1 Corinthians 10:13, Matthew 28:20.
