Hello beloved. Compliments of the season!
For the past two weeks, we've focused our hearts on two of God's amazing traits: his omnipotence and his omniscience. Today, we're going to focus on a third, and it is one I believe we need to be continually reminded of everyday—that God is indeed ever present.
Now, when we say God is omnipresent, it's a constant reminder to us that he is everywhere—so he doesn't only know and see everything, like we've come to understand from the previous post. And when it comes to us, his children, we must realise that he's not just wherever we are folding his hands or cheer-leading from behind and leaving us all alone without being actively involved (even though he does cheer us on constantly). it's not like a mirror or even a video call where you can be there and yet not actually "there".
Oh no, not at all! With our Father, it's far more than that.
In fact, the psalmist puts it like this:
"Is there any place I can go to avoid your Spirit?
to be out of your sight?
If I climb to the sky, you're there!
If I go underground, you're there!
If I flew on morning's wings
to the far western horizon,
You'd find me in a minute—
you're already there waiting!"
—Psalm 139:7–10
He's visibly, vividly there, just like he is everywhere else! So, even if there are a billion of us scattered upon the earth, each doing our own thing, he's with us all at once—his attention on each of us, simply undivided.
What joy this should bring to our hearts when we remember that he not only sees all, but he's in the midst of it all as well. He not only knows everything about us, but he's with us too no matter the peculiarity of the situation. That's the kind of God we have, the kind of Father that has adopted us—the Omnipresent one!
