PRAY FOR ME

"Pray for me", sentence commonly used not just among Christians but Unbelievers alike. A statement now considered so trite that people have forgotten how it is meant to be a requestnot just a half-hearted excuse for banter.

Many times, the person saying "Pray for me", is in an S.O.S.situation and desires intervention, but more often than not, the other individual that is asked to pray sees it as just another parting speech, something along the lines of, "make sure you eat well!" and so does not pray for the person or for the said situation.

How many times have you actually prayed for people whoasked you to? And when you do not, only to watch the situation turn out unfavourably – what feelings plague your heart then? Lately, it has become a concern to me.

To pray for or make a request to be remembered in prayers was common in the written gospels and in the epistles. So we know that it is part and parcel of our Faith.

The Lord Jesus had this to say about it:
“And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.”
 Luke 22:31-32KJV‬‬

And the Apostle Paul also saw its need:
“For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers;”
‭‭ Romans 1:9, KJV‬‬

“For God is my record, how greatly I long after you all in the bowels of Jesus Christ. And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment;”
‭‭ Philippians 1:8-9KJV‬‬

“Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you:”
‭‭ 2 Thessalonians 3:1KJV‬‬

Dear friend, if our Lord Jesus had not prayed for Peter, he would never have admitted to doing so. Likewise the Apostle Paul; who also would not have requested for prayers if he didnot expect them to pray for him.

"Pray for me", is not just another cliche sentence. it is a request and a responsibility  one we bear towards each other as believers. Sometimes it may not look like it, but It might be all the person’s life or livelihood depends on. Don’t joke with it  pray for them

God answers prayers.

Do you fall short in this aspect? Repent and make it a habit to pray for those who ask you to remember them in your prayers.

“Brethren, pray for us.”
‭‭ 1 Thessalonians 5:25 KJV‬‬
