Now, eight out of ten times, when people make the heartfelt request “pray for me”, it is to a closed circle. This circle which usually includes — but is not exclusive to — their pastors, leaders in church or in fellowship and friends. The single criteria required for inclusion into this list, is trust.
Trust; that these persons will pray.
Trust; that when they pray, God answers.
On earth, this circle of brethren who pray together and for one another is a treasure to hold on to and belong to.
One of the saddest things for any human being is to not have brethren one can truly ask to pray with and for you when tough situations arise.
So, you have a group of friends you talk business with, play with and talk about social happenings with. But you don’t have a group you pray with? That's sad.
Twice, Jesus took Peter, James and John to pray.
“And it came to pass about an eight days after these sayings, he took Peter and John and James, and went up into a mountain to pray.”
– Luke 9:28; KJV
“They came to a place called Gethsemane, and Jesus said to his disciples, “Sit here while I pray.” He took Peter, James, and John with him. Distress and anguish came over him,”
– Mark 14:32-33; GNB
The disciples had these to show us:
“And being let go, they went to their own company, and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said unto them.”
“And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.”
– Acts 4:23 and 31; KJV
Paul had this to say about one of his co workers to the church in Colossi:
“Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.”
– Colossians 4:12 KJV
Don’t be a loner. In the kingdom of God, we pray for one another. Find a circle of brethren you can pray with.
“Brethren, pray for us.”
– 1 Thessalonians 5:25 KJV
