FLIGHT

For many kids, the desire to build one thing or the other is a daily quest. Children can and will build cars, airplanes, trucks, and even mansions out of scraps or paper cards – It’s always a wonder to behold.

 

One of those moments for me would be whenever I made a kite out of paper – my paper kite. I would spend time folding papers and attaching sticks which served as the support. The daunting side of it all was getting very long threads that wouldlet them go as far as possible into the sky and yet grant uscontrol from the ground.

 

One factor that guarantees successful kite-flying is a perfect understanding of the direction of the wind. For the kite to fly smoothly it has to be in the direction of the wind – the wind literally flies the kite.

 

Any attempt to fly in the opposite direction of the wind spells doom for the kite. It would break and leave the child in tears.

 

Our everyday life is much the same. As we go out to get tasks done, to fulfil visions or the day's goal, we come against the stumbling-blocks and bottle-necks of life. Anyone who has ever made progress will tell you not to run away from the toughness that life offers. "Stay and soar", they’ll say.

 

How does one do that?

 

Through God’s word. Yeah, you heard me. By letting the word of God be the wind that carries us through life’s journey, we soar and are never broken. His words reveal His love seen in a person – Jesus Christ. 

 

The word teaches in the book of Hebrews that Jesus  is “...upholding all things by the word of his power,...”

(Hebrews 11:3, 1:3 KJV). 

 

Is your world falling apart? Like the broken kite in our story above, are you flying in the wrong direction of life’s wind?

Whatever the circumstances you may be in, the word to remember is this: by His words, He “upholds all things”. 

 

Jesus is the word of God that sustains all things. Come to him, and he will save you from falling. He wants to give you rest. Just like the relationship between the wind and the kite above, he wants to give you flight.
