Dawn gave way to another working week much to the chagrin of his emotions. Getting out of bed was a struggle. Dave turned to the other side of the bed, facing the wall, ignoring and pleading to the weekend – “Don’t leave me.” – as she packed her things to leave.
Rousing himself to the ‘realities’ around him, he met a very long queue in front of him. Gosh! He forgot, totally forgot that in a face-me-I-slap-you abode, waking up early and taking initiative could not be overemphasized. He tried to reason rub and shine as an alternative. Nahh, today was a big day at the office, there was a meeting with the board of trustees at the firm – he was to represent the Accounts and Sales department and rep he would.
Ten minutes later saw him standing in a BRT bus, it was 7:15, and with the third mainland bridge undergoing repairs, he could only hope that there wouldn’t be any holdup. Reaching for his phone, he logged into his instagram account to check his feed. After laughing at a couple of memes and skits, he saw a post of a picture of a young man on a trench coat and a woollen cap on his knees in the snow, his arms outstretched with an open blue velvet box to a very beautiful lady in an olive-green velvet dress, her well-manicured nails over her mouth.
He swiped and watched a very emotional video of the event. The caption read, I love you forever and a day more, You are God’s special gift to men #Loveliveshere #shesaidyes.
Dave blinked. This was Tunde na, the guy that he helped throughout school from fresher days to final year. “T boy don jand?” He looked at the post again and clicked the handle- therealTee. NG CA, Ontario, Canada.Son of God;Yoruba hangel, Engineer and brand consultant.Philippians 4:13
Dave continued scrolling through many pictures till his data got exhausted. He hissed, his thoughts unmerciful to him. Here he was hustling hard with lots of bills to pay, still recovering from heartbreak after a failed relationship of two years, his mother was very ill in the village, he had not even accomplished half of his plans for the year.
God why? God when?
Beloved, we’ve all experienced that moment when it seems everything is going well for others except us. We are tempted to think we have somehow been omitted from God’s to-do list and we sink into unnecessary depression and comparison. Today Father would have us live in gratitude in all seasons of our lives. Yes, always and at all times. Here’s what the Psalmist tells us, I will praise the Lord at all times, His praise shall continually be in my mouth.
Regardless of the circumstances surrounding you today, take a stroll down memory lane and let your heart bubble over with thanksgiving at the faithfulness of God:
When upon life’s billows you are tempest toss’d,
When you are discouraged thinking all is lost
Count your many blessings, name them one by one
And it will surprise you what the Lord has done
Count your blessings name them one by one
Count your blessings see what God has done
Count your blessings name them one by one
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done
GO ACHIEVE
