“Life is unfair” is a complete statement in every sense of it, properly understood and a general knowledge that needs no referencing. Look around you, everything points to unfairness, while some are born wealthy others cannot afford a meal. Is it fair that some are born with congenital diseases? That some children die the day they were born? Or is it fair that some students have all the money they need and blow it in seconds while others seek for funds just to be able to pay their fees and be up to date? Life is unfair, you will agree.
How can there be a loving God when life is this unfair, not to forget, those who are his true followers are caught in the unfairness of life. In fact there is no God, if there is, he has either lost it or is not love as his followers claim. Otherwise why will earthquakes hit poor nations and floods sweep poor neighborhoods? Life is unfair, you will agree.
To understand this we have to go to the roots, to the very beginning of what we call human life, to see how God createdunfairness we see in life. The book Genesis, tells us God created the world, it should mean he created unfairness too, but Genesis says; God saw all that he had made, and it was very good.(Genesis 1:31 NIV). If everything God made was very good, it means everything had balance, it means God did not create life’s unfairness, where did life’s unfairness stem from?
What tilted the balance God made? To understand this we have to know that to every balance there are factors that ensures it remains in the state of balance. Move one of these factors and you tilt the balance and usher in instability.
When God created the world, he created it for man to possess and have the rule over, truthfully he made the world for man and so, he gave man the manual to run the world, number one on the manual that will keep the balance in man’s world was; “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die. (Genesis 2:16-17 NIV).
God was saying to man, if you eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, you will tilt the balance and bring death on you and the world. Man did not see what God was saying and he ate the fruit anyway, right here, when man ate the fruit, the balance was tilted and everything not good including life’s unfairness crept into the world and grew to what it is today. So, you will agree with me, when you look around, LIFE IS UNFAIR.
