Last week we said, “Before you name it, think”. We concluded with this, “to have a good relationship, make sure to be on the same plane. Friends should be friends, family should be family and acquaintance should be acquaintance. These relationships function with different rules, respect your space and its rules.”Today, I will like to add, thinking alone does not do a perfect job.
Praying before we initiate or set sail to our relationships, helps us avert trouble that may be lurking. Why pray? Because prayer brings a realm that is higher than our senses into the picture. That everything you see and hear about a person appears perfect is not enough reason to begin or deepen your relationship with them.
Many people are whitewashed sepulchers, with the all is calm and beautiful look but within, they are vipers waiting to sting. By praying as you think, the Holy Spirit will help you know whether to go into business with such a fellow or not, get acquainted or not, move from acquaintance to deeper levels of relationships or not.
Many times we erroneously think that some things are too small to involve God, but I tell you, he is interested in every aspect of our lives. There is a popular saying, “you will be the same person in five years as you are today except for the people you meet and the books you read”. Having this in mind, I think praying about the persons we relate with, in any plane of relationship is as important as praying for success.
DO NOT BE SO DECEIVED AND MISLED! EVIL COMPANIONSHIPS (COMMUNION, ASSOCIATIONS) CORRUPT AND DEPRAVE GOOD MANNERS AND MORALS AND CHARACTER. (1 CORINTHIANS 15:33 AMP).
Remember David and Jonathan, their friendship led to the preservation of David’s life, (1 Samuel 20). What about Amnon and Jonadab, their friendship led to the defilement of Tamar, Amnon’s sister and David’s daughter. This led to the death of Amnon, (2 Samuel 13).
Before you go into business with that fellow or begin any form or relationship with the other, pray and think, and the Holy Spirit will help you make the right choice.
