Hello friends, sure you are up and running already,
this week holds more opportunities for you. So go achieve.
Here is a story I heard yesterday in church and it blessed
me a lot. Once upon a time, a king was passing through a town and he saw two beggars.
Beggar one said, who the king favours is blessed while beggar two said, who the
Lord favours is blessed. So, when the king heard them he was pleased with beggar
one.
The next day,the king placed a gold ring inside a loaf of bread and gave
it to beggar one, very grateful he has been favoured by the king, he decided to
make a little money out of it. So, he sold it to beggar two for 50 shillings.
The following day, the king was passing by the same
road and saw beggar one still sitting begging and beggar two absent, he was disturbed
and asked beggar one “why are you still here and what did you do with the bread
I gave you?” he replied the king, “I sold
it to beggar two.” Then the king
exclaimed, truly it is more blessed to be favoured by the Lord than a king!
The story is so clear, many of us are like the first beggar.
We look to this man or that woman to liberate us in one way or another.
Forgetting it is better
to trust the Lord than to put confidence in men. (Psalm 118:8, TLB)
"My son David, can you make one of your eyes to
look up and the other to look down at the same time? Whenever you are looking
unto men never claim to be looking unto me" This was the question God once
asked Bishop David Oyedepo sometime ago. The same is true today as it was when
God asked him, try it, and make one of your eye look up and the other looking down,
any luck?
Many a times we claim to be looking unto God, but
truth is we are looking to men to meet our needs or come up with a way to
satisfy us. One way I know we do this is by lip saying we are looking unto God
and the mental picture we have is of how so and so will set us free or aid our
success or make us better.
The bible says, “They looked expectingly unto Him, And they became bright, And their
faces are not ashamed.”( Psalm 34:5, Young’s literal translation).
Looking
expectantly, is staying put with God no matter the circumstances, waking up
daily with “this is the day” attitude. You can’t be confused truly looking unto
God. See what the above scripture says, you will become bright, meaning looking
unto God connotes receiving light and we know, light drives away confusion.
Who are you
looking up to, the Lord or man?
