Scientists believe that the universe began about 13 billion years ago, with every speck of its energy jammed into a very tiny point. This extremely dense point exploded with unimaginable force, creating matter and propelling it outward to make the billions of galaxies of our vast universe. Astrophysicists dubbed this titanic explosion the 'Big Bang'.
As Christians, we know the ageless, dateless and ever-abiding creator of all things. Who was even before the 'Big Bang theory'. If there was ever a thing such as the Big Bang, He initiated it. He is God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. By His word He created the billions of galaxies, uni- and multi-verses.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.”
—John 1:1-5 (KJV)
The above scripture, reveals the presence of God in the beginning as the initiator of the beginning, for without him was nothing made—not even the beginning.
You will also notice that God and His word are one. God and His word has always been. God the father of our Lord Jesus Christ is the most ancient.
Many can relate with the fact that God is the most ancient one. The problem though is that many judge God as they would man—that if He is ancient, then He is decrepit, outdated, and of no use today.
If they read the Bible, they see it as just another story or history book—as another 'good book'. And by doing this, they treat the word of God as not necessary for the 21st century.
Could this be true?
Is God and His word relevant today? And does God and His word have a place in 'our' 21st century?
