THE POWER OF TODAY

Are you writing the worries of yesterday or the cares of tomorrow on the pages of today?

If you can read off the minds of many people you come across on the way, you will see a lot of people living just to correct the mistakes of yesterday. Their mind is a bank of yesterday with no room for today.

The thing about living the “shortcomings”, “errors” and “had I knows” of yesterday today, is that you will never leave the cycle. Because there will never be a time you truly live the present.

One of the reason people carry yesterday's backpacks and tomorrow's fear around is because they don't know the power of today.


Everyday is as a seed, with the potential to deliver a satisfying today and the desired tomorrow. It is the day the Father has made and everything that comes from God is good.

"Stop dwelling on past events and brooding over times gone by; I am doing something new; it's springing up — can't you see it?" ( Isaiah 43:18-19 CJB).

You have to see it, something new is here and it's called today. Today is not a recycled yesterday, stop recycling it with the pains of yesterday.

Another way people stay brooding over yesterday is by refusing to forgive the people that have offended them in the past. Each day, they renew the pain by reliving the sad moment. You see, they are using the power of the day wrongly.

Some persons believe God is angry with them and will never forgive them. So, they go about with that sense of self condemnation from yesterday's act and they fail to live today.

"Through the Lord's mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness." (Lamentations 3:22-23 NKJV).

Did you see that? The mercies and compassion of father are new every morning. It means, as surely as it is called today, you have new mercies from God.

Dear friends, it's time to move on with today. Yesterday is energy spent, tomorrow is but a potential, only today is dynamic. You can start again!

Get you up, brush off the worries of yesterday and make today count.  Forgive all who have offended you. Accept forgiveness and maximize the power of today.
