So, we continue from last week, the proverbs 31 man. Today , we see the next instruction King Lemuel's mother gave him.
“It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink:”
Proverbs 31:4 KJV
He was a King, and she was stern in her words, she said it is not for Kings or Princes to drink wine or strong drink. In our world today, we can say, it is not for Kings to drink alcohol.
Revelation 5:10 says; Christ has made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.
Christ has made us Christians kings and priest. So the above scripture can address a Christian on alcohol.
It is important we note here, this article is not to state if taking alcohol is a sin or not but to point us to kingly characters. See the reason his mother gave; "Lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted" (Proverbs 31:5 KJV).
Kings rule, even today as believers, made kings by Christ, we rule, in many ways. God has placed the lives, situations and nations in our care. When we engage in the use of alcohol we lose our sense of judgement.
Those who take alcohol can tell you of the powerful influence alcohol has on the senses, it totally dulls it, and who makes right decisions with poor perception? Talk more of a king who needs to be up and doing always.
If you are a king as Christ has made us, instead of getting high on alcohol I'll rather you get high on the Holy Spirit, this is our recommended high. (Ephesians 5:18)
“Beer and wine are only for the dying or for those who have lost all hope.” (Proverbs 31:6 CEVDC). Those this ring a bell ? Alcohol is for the dying and should be giving to all that have lost hope. You can't say you are dying or without hope in Christ. For Christ in you is the hope of glory and you yourself is a life giver. (Colossians 1:27, 1 Corinthians 15:45)
Those who take wine, say it makes them forget their sorrow, but the will also agree that after the wine is gone, the sorrow appears.
Dear friends, alcohol is not for the proverbs 31 man, for the proverbs 31 man is a King. Jesus Christ has made us Kings unto his father. Are you saved by Jesus Christ? Then alcohol is not for you.
