Hello
friends, I trust you are breaking new grounds. ‘I am fetching water with a basket, come and see I am
fetching water using a basket’, was what I heard a man shouting many years ago when I visited
a village in the eastern part of Nigeria, here in Africa. He wanted everyone to
see that he was doing the impossible, using a basket to carry water, truth is
as impossible as it sounds, I was there and I saw it. He actually had water in
the basket, and it was not leaking through the pores of the basket, your
thought right now is as good as mine then. How did he do that? was the big
question I asked myself.
“Don’t put all your
eggs in one basket” I am sure we have either heard it or used it ourselves. It is an idiomatic phrase meaning that one
should not focus all his or her resources on one hope, possibility or avenue of
success or just one person. If anything should go wrong, maybe the source of
your hope no longer stands or the person fails you then you are left with a
broken heart. To avoid this we have been advice to put our eggs into several
baskets for safekeeping or best to put your money or time or investment into
several things.
Allow me to
appeal to your seat of knowledge a bit, people who live their lives like this,
who put their eggs in many baskets, who fill their lives with many other
options when on a particular goal most often seldom attain that goal. The
reason is simple, they lack focus. And one of the most important ingredient for
goal attainment is focus. See the way Jesus puts it: The light of the body is the eye: if
therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.
He is simply
talking about focus, He is saying focus on a particular goal or thing brings
light to us. And you know light connotes understanding, idea and inspiration.
Also light in physics talks about energy, where there is light there is energy.
It simply means a focused man amongst other things receives understanding,
idea, inspiration and the energy to accomplish them. It follows that filling
your path to a goal with options (many baskets), will limit, if not totally
empty you of understanding, ideas and inspiration and certainly the required
energy to achieve your goal.
For many of
us, we live our lives by having options A,B,C,D down to Z. many call it plan B.
stop for a while and think on it, you
are going to distribute the energy meant to achieve a single goal into achieving
many goals. Finally, every one of the goals will lack the energy needed to
accomplish them, so you end up achieving nothing and your fears for not putting
all your eggs in one basket comes real, you lose everything.
At this
point let me introduce you to the one basket that you need, this basket will
preserve your eggs. It will keep you focused on your goal. The basket is FAITH,
faith prevents you from swerving to the left and right, from running from
pillar to post. It keeps you on the goal, it empowers you with all the light
you need to win. Faith and faith in God never fails. Faith in God always
prevails. Jesus said: No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love
the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot
serve God and mammon. Without faith it is impossible to please God.
In closing I
will like to say quit dating two guys because you don’t really know who will
disappoint you at the end or which of them will remain faithful. Same for the
guys, stop dating everything on skirt in other to find the right one. This only
leads to broken hearts. Quit asking God for one thing and yet having three to
five back up plans, that’s the reason you ask and don’t receive from God. Quit
chasing a goal while nursing side attractions, rather distractions called plan
B. Stay focus today by walking by faith, faith in God always prevails.
As you go on
scaling new heights this week, remember the basket that secures all your eggs,
that keeps every one of them till they hatch. Faith the basket always
prevails. With this basket you will fetch water and it will not leak
out, simply you will do the impossible. Faith the basket.
Go achieve!
