Last week, we buttressed the point that your words shape your destiny by using a clear example from the story of the 12 spies. We saw how the words of 10 of them created their future.
This is what they said;
"But his fellow scouts said, We are not able to go up against the people [of Canaan], for they are stronger than we are. So they brought the Israelites an evil report of the land which they had scouted out, saying, The land through which we went to spy it out is a land that devours its inhabitants. And all the people that we saw in it are men of great stature. There we saw the Nephilim [or giants], the sons of Anak, who come from the giants; and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight."
Numbers 13:31-33 AMPC
This was the result.
“Surely none shall come into the land in which I swore to make you dwell, except Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of Nun. But your little ones whom you said would be a prey, them will I bring in and they shall know the land which you have despised and rejected.”
Numbers 14:30-31 AMPC
Notice, “the land which you have despised and rejected”
How did they despise and reject the land? By their very words.
They professed that they were not able to take the land “...And The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature.”
Numbers 13:32 KJV
By uttering those words, they shaped their destiny not just by disqualifying themselves, but a whole generation from posessing the promised land.
What is the take home here?
People can cause you to speak death and therefore create death. Don’t be lumped into the bandwagon of those who create destruction and defeat with their words.
Dare to speak like Caleb and Joshua. What is 2 when compared to 10? But they stood their grounds and spoke the right words and in turn created the very future they spoke.
Your life may not be going according to plan. It maybein a total chaos. Dare to say only what you want! Speak order, healing, restoration and must of all hope and faith filled words.
Your nation may appear to have lost it, don’t speak evil of your nation. Speak hope, life, redemption and you will see it.
Don’t be a part of those who by their words create an ugly nation. Be like Caleb and Joshua, create your own stability around you and make it to a better place.
