YOUR RACE, YOUR LANE ~ MAINTAIN IT

Having said so much about starting the year effectively, let us add one very important stroke to the picture, which is the understanding that you are running a personal race called life.

If you must run well, run on your own track. There are consequences for doing otherwise.

Take for example, in a professional race, the 100-meter sprinter who leaves her lane or obstructs the path of another sprinter will be automatically disqualified from the race.

Let's say you maintain your lane but decides to continuously look over your shoulders or stop to access the speed of other athletes running the same race with you. This will reduce your speed and may cause you to trip and fall.

If you must excel this year, choose to be focused on your race, your thing, vision or dreams, not anybody's.

You must seek to grow you and not spend the year calculating the progress of others.

You must not spend this year comparing your attainment with that of friends, family or colleagues.

When you look at other people's progress and abandon yours, it's like watering another man's field when yours is unkempt.

“Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.” (Proverbs‬ ‭22:29‬ ‭KJV‬‬)

Note what the above scripture says, “IN HIS BUSINESS”. You must put your energy this year in making sure you attain to new levels in your business than in comparing yourself with others.
